Mumbai in general is one of the most expensive cities in the world as far as real estates are concerned and as per Knight Frank LLP survey it is the least affordable city in the world for an average person earning in Mumbai to buy a residential apartment in and around the city. As per their calculation an average Indian would need to work for three hundred years to pay for a luxury home in Mumbai, making the city the least affordable in the world for locals.

But there are certain developing suburbs in Mumbai which are still quite affordable and cheap relative to the south and central region of the city where the per square feet prices are as high as Rs. 70000 per sq. ft. Nariman Point, Malabar Hills, Marine drive areas in Mumbai have residential property prices northward of Rs. 50000 per Sq. ft (Fifty Thousand per square feet).
